Short-timers

Doug and I both spent the day at work today saying goodbye to a lot of folks that have grown to be important to us over the years in our work. It's strange to have these experiences of "leave-taking." Why is it only in leaving each other that we truly express our feelings of gratitude and appreciation? I'm so guilty of this, and today made me realize that we're ALL short-timers on this earth, and we should make the most of every opportunity to tell the people God has placed us with that we are blessed to live and move among them.

Cake, balloons, hugs and good wishes for safe travels!

Every day is a gift, and every day we all have a chance to touch someone's life in a profound way. Who knew that I would be able to touch and be touched by so many folks at work? Today was a reminder that we are all placed here by God for a reason. I am so thankful for the gift of work, and the many good people I have been in contact with over the past 11 years at Friendship Centers of Emmet County. I may be a short-timer, but today God gave me a renewed conviction to keep my eyes and my heart open as I move on to "the next thing."

"So here’s what I want you to do, God helping you: Take your everyday, ordinary life—your sleeping, eating, going-to-work, and walking-around life—and place it before God as an offering. Embracing what God does for you is the best thing you can do for him."
Romans 12:1 (The Message)
